Cross Stitch Crazinessthe life of a legal secretary cross stitcher October 29 new pageI have decided to put my thought on a different format, so I will no longer be using Spaces as my blog. June 23 Other HDHappy DancesNow I am currently working on MLOTS because I haven't worked on her in quite a while and I figured I should try to get a bit done before I go back to my commitment pieces. I am also working on Crochet Angel beading some of the smaller pieces, when I get home from work, which are going quite quickly, so that when it is time to work on Crochet again it will be easy work to finish the remaining pieces. I also decided that I will measure up and put a running stitch where the wall pieces will go on the 3d houses so that should help speed up the stitching.
I am so getting revved up for stitching. Once my commitment pieces are complete I am still contemplating which picture I should work on June Pearl or Hanky. June is so close to being completed but it's mostly just yellow, cream and white which is hard on the eyes if I have bad lighting and with Hanky it's 3 1/2 pages left with various designs and colors to work with but it's on black and sometimes my eyes just don't want to work on black, or I could restart African Angel because I screwed up on it when I first started it and had to tear out about 2 days worth of work so I wasn't very interested in working on the pattern back then, and then there is WSF which is a very fast pattern to work on. Choices, choices choices I have about 1 month to decide.
1. June Pearl Fairy (Mir)
2. Hanky Pysanky (Ink Circle)
3. African Angel (Barbara Baatz)
4. Winter Spirit Fairy (Passione)
So by posting this on my blog I will be forced to think about it every time I log on LOL. June 12 Happy DayWell I'm so excited I have about 25 - 30 stitches left to go and then I'm finished parade of quilts WOW WOW. It was a great little picture and I really enjoyed working on it, the colors are so vibrant.
Instead of starting a new pattern I have decided to work on a current WIP Hanky Psanky so I can hopefully make a major dent on it before the end of the month I might also start beading some of the pieces on Crochet Angel early, if I'm in the mood. I am on the fence about whether I should make the lines on the 3d houses now or wait until July. It would make life easier if I do it now and I probably could do it quickly but when I start a project that I really like I don't like to stop, so doing the threading wounld interrupt me.
Maybe on a Sunday afternoon if I don't feel like working on HP I will pull out one of the houses and do the lines for the houses.......HMMM I will have to think about that.
Well, my cross stitch mojo is slowing returning and I'm so happy about that and I won't force myself to finish things anymore because it's suppose to be a hobby. I also will force myself to add my other hobbies back into the fold as well that will help me enjoy cross stitch more, because since I pressed myself to be a mad stitcher I haven't done anything about my recipe cards in months and I really miss that.
Well make to work I go LOL June 09 The Month of JuneI decided that June would be the month of relaxing and do what I want to do on the cross stitch front and so I have put away the Christmas 3d houses and the crochet paper angel. Basically I am refreshing my battery. So when July comes around I will feel refreshed and able to work on my commitment pieces with a fresh start. As it is I only have one wing and then the beading on the crochet angel to do anyway, so I should be able to finish that quite quickly. For the 3d houses this month I'm going to mark up the fabric with some yellow thread of where the 4 walls will be placed on the fabric so next month all I will have to do is stitch it and not worry about whether I have enough room on the fabric this should help the building process, and then from September to December I can finish stitching and building the remaining 4 houses for people with no deadline to get done before Christmas.
As to my projects this month I am doing a pattern called parade of quilt by ursala michaels it is quite a beautiful pattern and I have really enjoyed working on it and I must say the cover shot doesn't do it justice. I also worked on a freebie design from Seba designs it was a blackwork tulip design that I used Carrie Creation threads on. I have decided not to post the picture until I finish the quilt which I'm hoping will be by Thursday and this time I will be posting the picture inside the blog instead of just in the photo section. Then I will be working on country bunnies which is another small project that I thought I would work on this month it is by Barbara Baatz (I think), I have worked on one of these pictures before and found it to be a easy pattern so I am quite optimistic that I can finish the picture before the end of the month.
If there is anymore time this month I also would like to work on CdC (circus of circles) too. I want to possibly finish page one of the design. My original plan was to work on the pattern one circle at a time which was fine but now I have half a dozen circles finished but not one page done so it doesn't look percentage-wise like much has been done which is very deceiving, as it stands I have one or two small and tiny circles to complete and then I'm finished 3/4 if not all of page one.
Overall I'm am very happy with my cross stitch tasks this month and I am eager to work on more of my WIP by August and I might just go back to working on patterns one at a time (except for CdC because it can't leave the house and other large projects).
Also I have almost finished another scrapbook page of cross stitch projects. I got this great idea from a blog I was reading, this woman cut up small patterns that you can't really put into frames etc. and attached them to scapbook pages it looked really cool. So I have a couple of those types of patterns so on the weekend I cut them up and have glued them onto black cardstock and will be adding them to my scrapbook, the only problem with this is I didn't smear the fabric glue around enough in one spot so it soaked through the aida and now that it's dried it looks like a stain so I'm going to attach a brad to the piece, a stamp or ignore it before I add it to the scrapbook page. Tonight I have to mark in pencil the area around the pattern that needs to be cut out since I attached them all to the same black coverstock.
I'm just getting so crafty LOL.
May 26 New ideasWell I haven't blogged for awhile because I haven't really had much to say, I still don't have much to say but I decided to change up my blog anyway. I was finding it too cluttery. I have also decided to take off the photo albums. I feel the only point to my pictures is to show the work in progress on the day the pattern is completed not for the picture to flash on the page all the time. So currently I only have 2 pictures showing and that is how it will stay until I get more WIP done.
I have been having a hit and miss time with my cross stitch right now, I had a bit of a burn out and took a couple weeks off and I think my problem was because it wasn't looking like I was getting anything done, so I have again decide to change up my rotation......I won't write it down here just yet because I haven't figured it all out. I know I have a couple patterns that are lingering and I want to finish but I don't want to be stuck working on them for 4 months considering I'm just getting off a cross stitch slump, but nor do I want to have 15 patterns going at once because then I won't have any finishes to see. So I'm thinking about keep it simple and only working on 4 patterns at a time until finished and then adding in a new pattern to replace the finish, whether it's a new pattern or a WIP I haven't decided yet.
Another big problem I'm having right now is I'm working on commitment pieces for Christmas that are really bogging me down, I obviously didn't learn my lession from 2 years ago where it took me forever to finish the pieces because they were 3 of the same design, this year it is 7!!!! So I have split of the 7 and told myself I have to finish 3 of them for Christmas guarenteed and the other 4 I will try to finish for Christmas but I won't be upset if I don't give them out till next year, and I have decided that if I'm going to do a piece as a present I will do it the year before it is due so I don't get burned out on it. I also think I should do more small patterns inbetween large ones.
I also think I'm doing to much cross stitch and the fun is being taken out of the projects I'm working on. So I don't think I should work on my projects everyday at home. Since I will be taking these pictures onto the train and they will be worked on for at least 60 mins everyday if not more it probably isn't necessary to work on them at home every day too. This should give me the opportunity to finish some long lingering house hold tasks I have like portfolio pages, updating my recipe binders, house work, exercise regime and just plan sitting down and enjoying the day, we will see if I can accomplish this LOL.
So when I have my rotation worked up I will write it down here. Until then, thanks for listening. January 09 changing up 2008Well it's only been 9 days into this month and year and already it is a bumping one, so it's time to shake off the depressing feelings and start thinking of cross stitch LOL.
Well I still have 4 days left on June Pearl's rotation but I'm going to switch it early because I'm running out of steam; technically I started June early so I have probably already worked on it for 14 days and I'm of the opinion that I shouldn't force myself to continue working on a picture if I don't want to anymore because that is when mistakes are made. So once I finish the section I'm currently working on during the train ride home I'm going to take a digital picture of the pattern and then put it away.
I have also finished the outline of the 3 large circles on Circus of Circles but I have decided to put it away until I get my new qsnaps, now that I have found that qsnaps are the best way to work on the pattern with tissue paper I don't want to work on the pattern until I get the proper sized ones, I currently am using 11x17 which is very large and cumbersome for me so I have ordered 6x6 and 8x8, they should be here in about 2 1/2 weeks.
Also I have made my first purchase from a craft company in the UK, this company has 3d cross stitch houses that are just adorable. I first saw their designs in one of my craft magazines, the instructions in the magazines aren't the greatest so I decided to purchase one but of a differnt style so I can use the magazine version and the newly purchased one as templates for little Christmas trinkets, the one in the magazine is not very wide but the one I purchased is and I figure I will collect the supplies to make about 6 different colored ones and build them all at once without every having to lose the template. So this of course will affect my rotation because I figure I should work on them in the summer along with the christmas cards so they can be ready before Christmas incase I have difficultly and need to redo anything.
I am so excited to add another layer to my cross stitching hobby. I still haven't decided which picture will get bumped or whether I will just work on a picture for one week instead of two so I can get these houses done, maybe during the rotation where I have pictures I can finish in one week I will work on the houses/cards at the same time. I still have to ponder what I'm going to do. |
